The entire cast of Starlight Express has been announced and is guaranteed to get your engines roaring. Some of the newest talent in Theatreland will be taking to the stage at Troubadour Wembley Park this summer, so get your skates on and be sure to book your tickets to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic show. The story has been adapted and tweaked since it first hit the West End back in1984 and is now set to include a new plot twist which shows why ‘steam power is the future of the railway.’
Starlight Express will mark Jeevan Braich’s professional debut. He’ll be taking to the stage as protagonist, Rusty - a young steam engine with traditional technology. Longing to be the fastest steam train in the world and impress love interest Pearl, Rusty turns to the Starlight Express for inspiration. But will his dreams come true when he goes head-to-head with modern engines?
Jeevan Braich trained at The Royal Birmingham Junior Conservatoire. Speaking of education, he said: “My time at the Junior Conservatoire was the best teaching and foundation I could have asked for. The facilities and resources given to me to express my passion for music were so beneficial – not to mention the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media that provided me with guidance and experience to go into the industry prepared.”
Kayna Montecillo will also make her professional debut as Pearl in the Starlight Express show. Kayna is a 2024 graduate of ArtsEd School of Musical Theatre in London where she gained a BA Musical Theatre. While at Arts Ed, Kayna played Maureen in RENT and Dance Captain/ensemble in Sweet Charity. She was also a recipient of the Ian Fleming Charitable Trust Music Education Awards.
Having trained at the Arden School of Theatre, Marvin has since enjoyed many theatre roles, including Catherine of Aragon in the hit musical SIX. She’s also played Mrs Otter in The Wind in the Willows, Sharky in Squad Goals and was in Bad Girls: The Musical.
Whilst training at ArtsEducational, Al Knott’s credits included Ensemble in Sweet Charity, Janet Van De Graaf in The Drowsy Chaperon, and Starlight Express workshops. Starlight Express marks Al’s professional debut.
Also making her professional debut in Starlight Express, Humphrey is excited to get her skates on as Dinah - a sweet and affectionate dining car and Pearl’s best friend. Credits while training include Violet Newstead in 9 to 5, Charles Charlemagne in Pippin, Regina George in Mean Girls and Paula in The Positive Hour.
Tom Pigram will make their professional debut as the confident, arrogant and self-centred electric car, Electra. Credits while training at the Guildford School of Acting include Liliane La Fleur in Nine, Emmett Forrest in Legally Blonde and Henrik Egerman in A Little Night Music.
