What Theatre Shows Are On During Lockdown?

Covid-19 has certainly thrown a spanner in the works when it comes to entertainment. Many cinema theatres remain closed as the pandemic surges on and with UK playhouses, including those in the West End, keeping their doors firmly locked, it’s a rather sad time for arts lovers.

The lockdown has led to great innovation with many theatre events continuing in line with Covid-19 health and safety guidelines. Top London attraction, The Drive In, for instance, is all about the joys of the drive in, offering an exciting theatre movie experience with a 1950s retro vibe. Let’s find out more and discover what theatre movies are showing.

Fun at The Drive In
There may be a pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun now and again. When you attend a drive-in screening, you can enjoy your favourite movie be it an iconic classic or a new favourite from the comfort of your own car. Bring pillows, bring blankets, bring snacks and relax in front of the big screen as sound is broadcast directly to your FM radio. Fancy an extra treat? Then why not order some traditional cinema snacks via app and enjoy everything from popcorn to hot dogs and cheeseburgers delivered safely to your vehicle? In light of Covid-19, everything is contactless. Tickets are scanned through your car window and all cars will be at least two metres apart.

What’s showing?
At ‘The Drive In’, you can relive the magic of the great American drive-in movie theatre at your own leisure. Many theatre productions are showing on the big screen with magical LIVE elements helping to recreate that much-loved onstage magic.

Musicals
If you’re a musical fan, for instance, don’t miss classics such as Dirty Dancing and Saturday Night Fever. Or, check out the LIVE shows available such as Spice World with LIVE West End Concert and LIVE: Gals Aloud. The West End Musical Drive-In is also a must-see if you’re desperately missing theatre as it brings live performances from the West End’s biggest stars, to your car. As a socially distanced musical theatre concert, all performances will be projected live from the stage onto a massive screen so everyone will have a great view. Live shows are screened at very specific times, so be sure to check the schedule.

LIVE Theatre
